Product Description

Castelli's Vizio Due Women's Shorts start with the idea that shorts must comfortably stay in place in order for them to be comfortable. So, they designed a curved waistband out of Action Power Lycra that offers gentle compression and is abrasion resistant. Inside the waistband is lightweight elastic to make sure it holds. When you put the shorts on, you'll find that the waistband is higher in the back and lower in the front. This position keeps the shorts in place, is pleasantly comfortable, and keeps the jersey sitting on top of the shorts rather than exposing skin. The front is low enough so that you don't feel like you're wearing a girdle, holding in your stomach and preventing you from breathing deeply.Castelli perfected the cut of the panels in the back, so not only would the shorts fit well, but flatter the wearer. If you follow the back panels down the legs, you'll notice a few other features. First, you'll see the reflective strips on each leg. Then, you'll see the back of the leg cuffs. Castelli has done something interesting here; they're using neither their 100% Giro++ grippers, nor are they stitching in gripper elastic that includes a silicone bead. Each cuff is a two-panel design. The front has Castelli's Giro++ grippers, the soft, comfortable, wide material you'll find holding their team shorts in place. The back has Action fabric, so you're legs don't feel like they've got a rubber band around them. The chamois on the Vizio Due is the KISS3 donna-specific seat pad. It's smaller and a bit wider than the men's. It's a one-piece stretch pad with differing densities so you've got protection where you need it and don't have material in your way where you don't. The Castelli Vizio Due Women's Shorts come in Black, Red, Anthracite, and White and are available in five sizes from X-Small through X-Large. The legs have a 6.5 inch inseam.

Castelli Vizio Due Women's Shorts Black, XL Review

When I tried the shorts on in my apartment, they seemed great- the waistband didn't dig in, the leg grippers didn't seem too tight, and the leg length seemed appropriate.

However, once I got on the bike, it was clear they weren't meant for me. The waist kept rolling down my belly and the waist wasn't even high enough to be yanked up high enough over my belly button to prevent roll down- so the whole ride was spent giving myself a camel toe (or as much as that is possible when you're wearing shorts with chamois) as i kept trying to pull them up. then the leg length was not nearly long enough, and the leg gripper not strong enough, to keep it from climbing up my leg as i rode- they crept halfway up my thighs giving me a major sausage effect on my legs. not flattering.

Plus the chamois felt like a diaper.

If you are a larger cyclist (like myself) and you have a bit of a belly, I'd say skip these shorts. I'm sure they fit very well on someone skinner, but they are not flattering, at all, for larger women.
